Absolute Beginners > Managing Folders

Clicking on Finder (the icon can be found in The Dock), allows you to locate your Home folder. The Home Folder will be displayed under the desktop icon. The home folder contains a range of standard folders which exist to encourage you to keep your files organised.

Documents is the folder where you should save spreadsheets and word processed documents etc.

Downloads is where you will find any files downloaded from the Internet.

Movies is designed to hold your digital films.

Music is where you will find you music files e.g. music downloaded from the iTunes store.

Public is where you can save any files or folders you are willing to share with others.

Sites contains any websites you create.

To create a new folder make sure that the Finder menu is displayed at the top of the screen then go to File > New Folder.
