Absolute Beginners > Wireless


The wireless card in your Mac is known as AirPort. This is the piece of hardware that lets your connect to wireless networks e.g. your wireless router that allows you to connect to the Internet at home.


You can connect to a wireless network by clicking the AirPort icon located in the Menu Bar (top right corner). It is the icon that looks like a slice of pie when not turned on (second from left in the image below).





By clicking the icon you will open the AirPort menu. From this you can turn on Airport.








Once you have turned on AirPort its icon will change (as shown below).




Next click on the AirPort icon a second time and you will see a list of wireless networks you can join.












Select the network by clicking it then type in the appropriate password.
